agree that the akarana book is good, but depth may be an issue in places if 3.2 draft is correct. the authors assume you can get in a lot further than that!
-
Just move the boat to the east coast on a westerly. Great place
+1

there was water available at Te Hue Bay 2 years ago, limit was 100 litres/day/boat.
There is supposed to be a water pipe somewhere on the eastern side of Oke Bay.
thanks, will hope it's still there!
-
Yeah there's definitely water at opua, but as you say, would rather not go all the way in.
-
Probably a little lacking in cruising amenities too for that size. But yes looks a deal.
-
Can anyone confirm if there's still water available at the wharf in Te Hue bay? My copy of the RAYC handbook says there is, but as it's getting a bit older I just wanted to check and see that was still the case...
-
ok yes i somehow misread the original thinking only vendor and agent involved; yes if buyer is involved too then makes sense.
-
Not wanting to thread drift but the latest ploy in the sinking realty market is collusion between vendor buyer and limpet realtor to falsely inflate sale prices achieved.
Shits gonna happen in this wacko house market and at the top end it is already happening.
how? surely they can't change what the buyer pays?

I guess maybe that answers some of the questions in the other thread!

Pathetic.
There is one boat already in town today that will cost about USD $110,000.00 a day to Run and Auckland shitty council wants to ping them and extra 1970 bucks for the PRIVILEGE of watching the cup.
WTF What that one yacht has bought into this country in revenue, parts, and employment and you have got some 25 yr old nimby trying to justify his 100K pay check by charging them more?
F off, this is petty BS.
independent of the main point here, i really hope you've misplaced some zeros in those running costs!
-
Is it just me or does the mast look a tad short and stumpy for a boat that size?
yeah interesting. slightly shorter than the waterline? i guess the scaling might be a bit off from smaller boats, given you want the draft to be reasonable.
-
wow. seeing her craned off the ship is quite a sight.
-
isn't $60k what it costs for a council to sneeze?
-
A little daydreaming on a rainy morning. Has anyone ever arranged international freight/shipping for a dinghy, either from the states or aussie? If so, how did you do it, and what did it cost?
-
of course, seeing this a while back reminds me of why the marinas are keen on big $ liability cover.
-
yes interesting, esp since F3 is about the same $
-
$200k in 1990 = ~$350k now.
-
That is very cheap for what is a great design - although they did leave out the fact that the 2010 refit was due to an unfortunate incident at The Brothers at the entrance to Te Puna inlet.....
does seem like a lot of boat for the $. don't think i want to look up the rates for 18m berths though.
-
turns out I can't keep the mast up. so a, slightly revised question: which of the available beach cats is quickest and easiest to get going from mast down?
-
I suspect that if you're patient there will be one that's more or less free if you take it away.
-
thanks, that's helpful. i'll have a suss of the clearances along the walk as far as keeping the mast up.
-
thanks. hobie 16s obviously meet b and c. i've never rigged one though. they look they take a good deal longer than something like a wave (boomless, main only -- just halyard up, hook on the main sheet and away you go.)
-
Can anyone give some advice on beach cats which are
a) very quick to rig
b ) decent to sail
c) can be picked in reasonable nick for 5k or less
?
I'm after something to keep half-rigged on the driveway, quick walk down to the beach, and away quickly with the (young) kids. I recently sailed a hobie wave, which put me on to this, but I don't see any for sale and 12k new is too much.

i doubt it's worthwhile in that pricerange and in the current market.
given duty and gst, you'd be looking at
plus, you can get a whole lot of boat here at the moment as prices seem to have dipped significantly.
