Forecast for the start looks fabulous, from a spectator's perspective anyhow. I expect a viewing position on torpedo bay wharf will be entertaining.
-
The lesson for today: you can always pay an expert for a report that says what you want.
First rule of consulting, isn't it? First, work out what the client wants you to find...

Interesting. I do wonder, though, how much game playing there is in these first boats, e.g. showing things that the teams have no intention of actually doing.
-
Does seem unlikely. Too bad, as it would be better not to be unloading the cars there.
-
The ferry's will sometimes take a small boat on a launching trailer worth asking
I would think so. But then you've got to get it to and from the ferry, and without a trailer... ?
-
Hm. Without access to a road trailer? Probably not a lot of good, cheap options.
-
huh. I find it hard to believe that nobody here knows!
-
Yes I'll join as well please.
-
Might want to strengthen the gudgens as they usually fail after a few sails in decent breeze
that's... worrying?

My guess is that she is the dot showing at S35 47 E177 10 last updated 10 minutes ago.
seems about right

Anyone know what happened to the boat ?
Asking because I have a very good view from home from the needles right through to poor knights and there has been what looks like a yacht with half a mast sitting/drifting about 10 miles out from kauri mountain all morning .
It’s not a great day for fishing and where it’s at is not a great fishing spot and wind is 15-20 NE
huh. seems a little unlikely that she could get there from 60 nm east of barrier, but i suppose it's possible.

This. Anything else is this -
Totally agree. I love sailing. I love racing. But would I be keen for my kids to get into the jnr racing scene as it currently is? Nah.

Mercs as per BooBoos post
ah. sorry. yes, great plan!

Race there Thursday afternoon start
Short island race Friday midday start 10 to 30nm depending on wind
Drinking ashore Friday night
Saturday 0900 start 20 to 50nm island race
Saturday night ashore Prize Giving
Informal race home Sunday
Just for starters
All crew has to stay on the boat they race on, no mothership programmes
But I’m not running it so you decide
don't follow. leave AKL thursday afternoon. when are you imagining arriving in TGA, with a Friday midday start?
-
that'll buff out?
-
so.... you have to have an engine that can actually move the boat at a decent speed, and enough fuel to use said engine to get out of trouble. sounds onerous!
-
second that. they just let me have a rummage through the offcuts when I need a little bit.

Opua and Mangonui
russell and paihia, without going quite all the way in to opua

There was a similar boat anchored in very close to castor bay a few days ago. Inside the swim platform. Must have been so nearly beached.

milford marina is still cheap, isn't it? surely their costs aren't that different. just a lot less demand for shallow draft, tidal access.
-
Interesting comparing the 12m multihull stern-to rate with monohull-no finger... $604.50 multi vs $790.50 mono, a 30% premium for less real estate? What am I missing?
yeah 12m mutlihull stern-to seems a (relative) steal. half the alongside rate, and similar to the piles.
-
Hope it revives the small boat numbers in the coastal like the piedies and trailer yachts .
would be nice to see. didn't seem like there were hardly any smaller boats in the most recent edition.
-
onetangi fractionally closer i guess.

The start is a big draw for me. And Mark Foy would still be biased if the wind changed during the starting period.
