CarpeDiem 419
We unfortunately need to get a new pole after loosing our old one in yesterday's Gold Cup race. Why do people put their spinnaker poles in bags when not in use? Is this for sun protection in lieu of painting a carbon fibre pole? The pole we lost was made by C-Tech and came painted gloss white. The painting made up 1/3rd of the purchase price, so I was considering getting this one unpainted to save some coin. Or am I missing the fact that a new pole would require some kind of finish anyway? Kick Ass 47
Paint is to protect the Carbon from the UV. Ours is clear coated but still need to store out of sunlight or use a cover as suggested as the UV does break down the clear coat so paint is better/less high maintenance.
