Growing up in Whangarei there was a large yacht being built in a barn on Beach Road, in Onerahi. About 60 feet from memory. Designed by, and slowly being brought to fruition by a Bob Wilkinson. I remember clambering over it as a young lad. The shed was built in a position where Bob planned to run a couple of miles of cable across the bay to Waikaraka point, and winch the boat into the water from there. When I left the country in 2001 it was still there, but when I returned about eight years later it was finally gone. Does anyone know what happened to her? Is it the same boat? Is Bob still around or has he sailed over the horizon for the last time? Suffice to say I have still got a few gaps to fill. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
