Marshy 30
Huge thumbs up to the team at Coastguard Mana - Recently they had one outboard stolen from their last remaining rescue vessel. http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/10448619/Coastguards-boat-motor-stolen They setup a Give a Little site to help fundraise to cover the insurance excess (Bearing in mind they are a voluntary organisation). Tyler (5) decided that he really wanted to fundraise and help them out, so pulled together every coin he could and donated $20 to the cause - And i am staggered to have received a personalised email to the little guy about what they do, and how important it is they get it operational again. With photos of rescues etc. Truely humbled that supporting these guys means this much to them, that they would take the time to write back to a kid and say thanks. I know tonight we will have a little kid fizzing at home! Thanks guys. And to the rest of us boaties - lets dig into the pockets and help these guys recover after the scum that stole from them disabled their boat. - THey may not look after your patch of water, but if it was your coastguard area you would hope boaties all around would support them... https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/stolen
Coastguard School 0
Pleased to advise that the motor has been found. Apparently a guy walked into a dealer looking for cables and controls for his newly purchased 2nd hand motor. However the funds being raised will be used towards the cost of replacing cables and wiring damaged when it was removed so Tylers contribution will be very welcome for this! Marshy 30
Good to see a few other Crew.Orgers putting some money towards helping these guys get on the water. Interesting to hear that Howick Rescue 1 is soon to be moved down there for service when the new Howick Rescue boat turns up which is cool.

They should be pretty happy with Howick Rescue 1 - she's done some good work and been very capable up here. Always very well maintained she's currently running sweetly with modern electronics. The previous HR1 is still in service - currently being used by Coastguard Queenstown.
