Brilliant result by Pete Burling. Massively talented field and very tricky conditions. To reel off that sort of score card was amazing, good foil design or not.

With regard to upcoming talent, check out the 29er fleet in NZ (Small 49ers basically) and you will find a number of hot sailors coming through, two of which finished 3rd in the 29er worlds and have just gone into a 49er. The Opti and Starling fleets are huge at the moment and most counties around the world would be very happy with our youth fleets. No need to panic!!

With Deano Barker? FFS, leave him alone. Cracked record from the latest incarnation.. He did an awesome job in the last AC. Choke? I don't think so. He was up against the best who also made mistakes, and if anything, they were even I reckon. Bad luck, amazing opposition, and eye taken off ball by an over confident management team cost us that cup. Dean made very few mistakes.

Andrew “AMAC” McDougall is always a good chat, and we grabbed him at the end of the Moth Worlds to talk about his umpteenth win as Grand Master (and ignore the fact we thought he won Master as well – that honor went to the newly-turned-45 Dave Lister).  We also took the time to learn the essential bits of what is a far more interesting development – the soon-to-be-revealed Waszp.  At less than the cost of a one and a half Lasers, this fiberglass and alloy ‘foiler for the masses’ might just provide the engine for an explosion in sailing that we’ve not seen since the Hobie 16 or the Laser itself.  Reality or hype?  Listen to Amac and decide for yourself, and get psyched for next week’s “Moth Worlds: The TV Show” from Penalty Box Productions with support from Sperry.  We’re not done yet.
