Boatworks 23 Posted August 4, 2010 Share Posted August 4, 2010 Hi all The Elliott 5.9 fleet sails it's Appleton Estate Traveller Series each year around the North Island. Unfortunately the Tauranga event in September, which was part of the major BOP Trailer Yacht regatta, has been put off until next year so we are looking for an event to join in the mid-North Island around September/October to round out our Traveller Series. Does anyone know of a weekend regatta we can join? Happy to share a course and we usually sail W-L courses so fairly simple needs. One option seems to be Ngaroto so we will follow that up. We aere keen for the Tauranga regatta but everyone we very nervious about hitting a sand bank at 20kts! That wouldn't be pretty! Rotorua Yacht Club is running a sprints regatta on 16-17 October. Boatworks 23 Posted August 5, 2010 Author Share Posted August 5, 2010 Fair call, the 5.9's don't ever have to worry have to worry about hitting sandbanks at 20kn - even with the biggest Tauranga tides! We will look into that Rotorua event - could be perfect - I have also heard from a Wgtn sportboat of a possible Sportboat event in New Plymouth in Sept. Cheers Link to post Share on other sites
