erice 732
A search and rescue operation is underway after a boat with three people on board "went down" off the Canterbury coast. A police spokesman said emergency services were called to the scene, about 20 kilometres off the Rakaia River mouth, at 4.30 am Sunday. A boat with three people on board had their boat "go down", the spokesman said. The trio had made it into a life raft, he said. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter had been dispatched to the scene, and was searching for the trio. It is not yet known what type of boat it was, or how the boat sunk. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/73121632/three-people-abandon-ship-for-life-raft-after-sinking
wheels 543
The vessel is the FV Jubilee, a 16M Stark brother vessel working out of Lyttleton. They have found an empty life raft, but that's all. The wind has been extreme down that way.Jubiee made a name for itself when it was lunched, because at the time it was the only vessel known to be running 100% on Bio fuel. erice 732
not looking good wonder if it's time for such modern and expensive commercial vessels to have a "black box" system that uploads essential data via a satellite link
