all fired up 6
My two year old Nexus Instruments have stopped working progressively. First depth, then speed and then wind. Technical investigations are getting me nowhere. Has anybody been through this pathway with Nexus Instruments before and found a clever fix? a.f.u
Battleship 100
I have had a few issues with them. Often a matter off disconnecting everything and then re attaching one by one to find the culprit. Had a bad transducer bring the whole network down once.
bazzathemammoth 37
Yes but nothing particularly clever. Pretty much what willow said as well as polishing the solar panel on the wireless wind transducer to make it charge again. Good luck!
Battleship 100
Yes on the solar panel if it is wireless, discovered that about 6 months ago the plastic used is sh*t and will oxidise so that no sun gets through until that layer is cleaned off.
Sail Rock 28
I had a lot of problems with my Nexus Wind instrument during the first couple of years in use. Kept losing the wireless transducer link which necessitated trips up and down the mast to bring it down and do the reset. The instructions that came with it are bloody useless, with poor translation from Swedish and lack of clear diagrams and logical directions. On one occasion when I replaced the NiCad battery I couldn't figure out how to reassemble it, so had to take it into Kiwi Yachting where the guy showed me how to do it in a jiffy - doh!! The last time I did a reset of the transducer, I also did some sort of a reset of the control unit that I found buried somewhere in the instructions. This was two years ago and I haven't had any problems since. Great instrument when it is working but a pain in the arse when it isn't !!
