Guest
http://www.medcup.org/replay/ If you can tune into the replay of race 3 on day 5 where the Kiwis won, can someone explain to me what happened with the ETNZ gennaker drop. I've never seen anything like it. Perhaps Booboo will know. The drop is 30 minutes into the video, you'll be impressed.
Guest
Can you fast forward that thing?

Guest
retreival line going to one of the primarys??
Mothership 6
The site uses HTTP streaming not proper streaming video, so no way to fast forward it. Not nice for those on limited data connections (i.e. 99% of New Zealand). The drop seems to work, anyway.
Guest
retreival line going to one of the primarys?? Looks like it, it's all over in about 4 seconds.
B00B00 311
Yes Jordan is right, its all done with retrevial lines these days, the same as the AC kites. When you see the bowman go to the end of the prod thats to grab the retrievla line which is in a pocket at the tack so it doent get tangled during the gybes.
Guest
so do they have a sock down there booboo?
B00B00 311
No there is not a sock the sail gets re packed normally, But i dont know exactly what system they are using.
Guest
Whatever system they are using, can it be retrofitted to a Cav32?
Guest
Very similar to my next question.
SloopJohnB 322
Whatever system they are using, can it be retrofitted to a Cav32? not unless you fit a bitch winch in the cockpit, rollers around the drop hatch, and the revival cord that runs thru the boat back under the cockpit to get the required distance, at least half the mast height. Guest
It's the same sort of system that is used on Skiffs just down the hatch rather than into a sock of sorts. Works damn well if set up right.
Guest
So this is a variation on the 2 handed drop being discussed here awhile ago involving a bucket thrown over the side tied to a retrieval line. The difference being, that it works.
Guest
The speed is amazing.

Retrieval line gets hooked up to a pedestal doesn't it?
