Westhaven Developments Meeting

Recommended Posts

Rocked up to the Ponsonby to hear the latest and greatest from our publicly owned marina management and their overlords Panuku Inc.

Got the update on the land based development that struggles to meet commercially viable numbers of prospective marine related tenants.

I wonder if the part of G Pier that has been vacated is to given over to commercial stinkpot interests.

Kevin Lidgard waxed lyrical and very upbeat about the Marina vying for the most prestigious internationally recognised award and has departed along with Tom Warren to foreign shores with a ready made case to accomodate the silverware.

The relocation of Sealink and the Fullers ferries ,existing tugs super yachts seaplane fizz boat owners charter operators net alone the existing marina residents having only single access once the pile moorings development seemed to raise little alarm to that piece of seaway becoming a bloody nightmare.

Parking issues and concerns are seemingly in conjunction with a public display of hand holding with the WMUA going to be resolved by some yet to be achieved phone app process that will enable berth holders to access parking and berth fingers.

In summary I just walked away thinking it was just another talkfest where the them and us historical differences between the marina occupants and users expectations are pitched against the arrogant we know best management.

I have since being a young boy witnessed this bizarre non collaborative relationship from the marinas management and cannot fathom why it is so historically adversarial. Westhaven is a publicly owned facility that was established and paid for by the berth holders and public.
