Nzgrant 19
I have a solar panel that shows acceptable volts 17 plus but only half an amp when plugged into controller. Is this how solar panels die??

mcp 34
Could also be corrosion in the wiring. Is there a sticker on the panel showing specs and do you have a multimeter?
wheels 543
What size panel? Are you measuring OC voltage or measuring when it is connected? 17V is not a lot for OC. It should be in the mid twenties.
Nzgrant 19
Panel elfland solar panel SP-37 100watt Ipmax 5.5A Vpmax 18V Isc 6.1A Voc 20V 32 cells Flexible panel Panel is pretty rough looking. Took little box off resoldered panel to it. connections are pretty rough. Oc was 19 in fullsun today was getting between 15 and 18volts when connected to controller but was only getting 0.4amps other panel getting similar volts but 2.6 to 3amps
wheels 543
Well if one is performing and the other not, I guess that's question answered.
