Raymarine Axiom - Chart plotter aside, Sailing functions anygood?

Recommended Posts

Absolutely loving "Revolution Blues" after a about 5 sails and two family trips to TiriTiri swimming and so on.

We are now thinking about improving our instruments and being IT orientated interested in what sailing functions like lay lines, time to waypoint and other functions might make us more efficeint at working out how best to sail her. We have a the vague notion that some evening racing might be on our cards but to be determined.

So my question is, apart from the core chart plotting functions, are the "sailing" functions any good, do they work, are they more sales points than practical etc?

Chartplotter aside - as a cruiser I find the sailing functions do what I want. There is VMG, lay lines, and some racing functions to do with start timers etc.

Take a look in Raymarnie Lighthouse 3 manual online to see the latest feature set.

I have two Axioms on my boat and happy with them.
