Quarterback 1 Posted January 3, 2011 Share Posted January 3, 2011 The fire onboard a yacht in the Tamaki river spread to two others when the stern line parted letting the Wairoa (a ply 32ft Ganley) come along side the steel cutter who's owners are from ChCh. the 3rd yacht Lewanne (ferro) that was in the next pile, down wind and tide was cut free and towed to the club jetty by club members and a local launch owner from Pamure Bridge Marine. Lewanne has paint damage to her topsides. All this while fuel cans, LPG bottles and a Flare kit were exploding on the Wairoa Many thanks to the boaties that got Lewanne out of there and to the Mt Wellington Brigade that reponded to the call, also to the Police Launch Deodar 3 with extra pumps and a crew from the Parnell Brigade and Marc the duty harbour master on the day.
