Emergency Autopilot needed - anyone got something lying around?

Our oldie but goodie Navico WP5000 Wheel Pilot gave up on us at our last sail, and the prospect of manual steering into Christmas and Great Barrier is not quite a cheering up one. The drive still works but the controller is quite dead. Just wondering if anyone has an older wheel Autopilot kit lying around, which has no more use? I'd be happy to pay up to $500 or so to get something in quick and dirty until we have enough money to pay for a 3-4k Raymarine Ev-100 kit or similar. Please let me know! Based in Gulf Harbour but I can come anywhere in Auckland or even beyond. Cheers, Olaf

Try Matt at Neptunes gear. He is Navico agent and could have WP5000 lying around. 0221539176

Sure it hasn't just blown a fuse on output of controller?

I have a spare AC 42, Triton2 screen/controller, compass & linear drive (complete drop in backup  for my system), but I don't think it will drive  WP5000.

It would require an N2K backbone etc at least Days work to install. Not an 11th hour install. ($5K worth of gear)

The guy in Te Atatu is an absolute star at fixing things like that.

No idea how to say his name, but he has performed many miracles. Even Kiwi Yachting recommend him. You may have just blown a fuse or a FETS. Both super easy to replace if you know what you are doing. He has replaced both on out AP course controller at different times.

Obviously being this close to Christmas may be problematic, but it would be worth a phone call at a minimum. Or drop your dead unit off and hope for a Hail Mary.

Use a pypilot - it costs very little, will work with your existing motor and steers better than commercial options costing a hundred times more. If you're not into tinkering then you can buy a pre-built onesean  with a motor controller from sean at pypilot.org

Thank you, yes I did call Matt and he was far too busy for anything for another couple of months :))

AC42 would have driven it! Unfortunately I have not see your message in time so I ended up going with the NAC-3 kit.

The only thing I'm lacking is something to control it with. Would you consider selling the Triton2? Not sure if it can control the autopilot though...

Triton2 has a autopilot page but I’ve onlyever used it for configuring ; there is a T2 pilot keypad next to it and a remote fob if you away from keypad. I don’t know actually and not at boat. So can’t advise. You probably need the T2 pilot keypad as well.
I don’t want to sell as it’s backup hardware and I don’t have a spare pilot keypad anyway.
Seeing as you have the nac3 kit now I think you’re going to have to go for a T2 display and T2 keypad.
