Marshy 30
There was a kevlar Young 88 Main on trade me for a while a few weeks back?
Murky 1
Hadn't seen that one but you are quite right. Can't quite figure that out - must be an orphan of some kind. The class rules state only dacron for the mains (not that we are racing in class most of the time). Pretty tired though, I would much rather have your one.
ab1974 1
Is this the one you mean?? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 457549.htm
Guest
No real idea what the sail measurements are sorry. Never needed to except for the PHRF Cert but I just made all those numbers up on the fly. No wonder the whole class thing has got away on you a bit. The measurements are irrelevant, it is a Performance based system as the name suggest..... isn't it? {laughing to expected to stop mid 2051} A 930 mast is 12mts so I'm guessing the luff is 10.5-10.8mts there abouts. Guest
Tempted but would feel a tad dodgy to be honest. The ones I have are pre-under garments.
Rental 1
About all you could do with that 8Y8 sail is turn it into one of these......
Kestrahl 6
This is the old SL main in the middle of the photo. It has some patches in the kelvar as it got damaged when the rig fell down and rig and sails were replaced under insurance.
Marshy 30
This has also just popped up? Might be a bit big for your boat but its pretty cheap... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 159531.htm
ab1974 1
Thanks Marshy, will have a look - but again probably uneconomical to rebuild. Guessing it would cost nearly 2/3 of a new one once it is cut down.
wal 27
Recutting mains is uneconomic generally unless you are basically lopping it off at a reef point. By the time you've shifted/rebuilt reef points/batten pockets etc you've basically built half a new sail. Recutting luff round from a lot to a little is pretty easy - done heaps of them Started doing this sort of thing in 1977.........
Guest
Started doing this sort of thing in 1977.........Must be a bloody big sail if 34 years later you still haven't finished it
