Variant 2
Just wondering what paint people recommend for below waterline on a trailer yacht that would see no more than 3 weeks in the water at one time with a bit of fresh water use also. Same paint as the topsides? or something special which can be sanded to remove the odd bit of growth after a longer periods? Or a full on antfouling paint?
wheels 543
Either same paint, in which you give a good scrub when out, or a hard antifoul that stops the little bits of growth you may see and can give a good scrub after. Even a hard antifoul is not as hard as the top coat if you have a two pot coating.
Variant 2
Thanks Wheels. It would be nice to use the same paint as topsides as it would be less hassle.
Megwyn 2
We just had the same paint top and bottom on the Elliott. She stayed in the water for about 15 days max I think. Only ever got baby barnacles on her that just rubbed off. Easier when they are soft. The wee tri sat in the estuary for 3 weeks with no problems, but we did use to drop her on the beach most days we went sailing.
Variant 2
Thanks Megwyn. Looks like I'll be doing the same with the wee cat.
