Rebushing Yamaha 8 props

Hi guys

 

After many years of service my Yamaha 8 prop bush has said enough is enough .....

 

This doesn't look like a home job or is it ?

It can be done but from memory the cost of the bush is about 60bucks short of a complete new prop so not really worth it.

There are plenty of cheap second hand props around many of the outboard repair guys, if you want something cheap.

Depending on what you are pushing and if you haven't already got one....perhaps think about the hi-thrust prop as well. They drive a LOT better and reverse really well as well.

 

I re-bushed mine and bought another prop as a spare as the last thing I wanted was to be at Barrier or similar and have no prop or only be able to motor at 1.5 knots with the shaft spinning in the bush.

Any hints on the names of the repair shops to try .....
