Duty Free 2
Has anyone got any practical advice on cleaning these --they are D2 models and l dont really want to have to take them off the boat so wonder if anyone has any ideas on cleaning then without removing from boat ---l cant find anything that suggests l can dismantle them in place so any thoughts/ideas appreciated . I know it could be the halyard but as the others are slipping a bit l think a clean is in order . Andrew
PaulR 3
Lewmar site has exploded diagrams of D1 & D2. Google found easily. Normally only need a really good hosing with fresh water to remove salt buildup and a decent wiggle of handle. Withdrawing of rope gives a better clean. Phone Kiwi Yachting, AKL for more info ; parts etc.

After Midnight 0
Thanks Paul! I had one slipping badly, came across your post and gave it a try. Absolutely amazed at the gunk that came out!? Appeared to be many years of build up from tiny bits of the halyards outer cover. Works like a treat again!
PaulR 3
Yes the tiny bits of disappearing covers have to go somewhere, sometime. otherwise KM and similar will be twiddling their thumbs all day, every day until the next race.
