erice 732
there're certainly some oddballs out there in the market like this solo world cruiser http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 417574.htm but the blurb doesn't seem to match the reality He built the vessel himself during holidays and weekends over 10 years. Just four days after leaving he was forced to turn back after his wind power generator and auto pilot gave out. By the time he reached Tasmania in March a leak in his boat had destroyed four more auto pilot systems and he had frostbite on his hands. Another storm destroyed his main sail and so he made the emergency decision to end his trip in New Zealand. But his troubles weren't over and another storm meant he had to be rescued by the coast guard just eight kilometres off Auckland's coast. His boat was taking on water and his engine had stopped working. http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-n ... lo-attempt
GregW 28
there're certainly some oddballs out there in the market Like this one. I don't think Wharram ever designed an alloy Tiki 30. or any boat with such interesting segmented topsides. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 540624.htm

erice 732
so here's another purpose built solo cruiser a wooden 1996 davidson westcoaster built for the trans-tasman http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/266156460.jpg http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 277985.htm seems nothing on them/it on google knowledgeable people any opinions? meanwhile have been idly reading up on this boats failed round world trip and i suspect its tracking and pointing would be greatly improved with something deeper than his 1.1m keel, (he burned out something like 3? elec autohelms) http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-m ... 115055.htm anyone comment on how easy that would be to arrange?
