Changed 10
When we finished the Three Kings race I noticed significant rust staining around the pulpit, fore deck and bow. Obviously we had sails hanked but sitting on the deck as well as set. The ones on deck are wet all of the time. They are carbon. Is this standard? Should I be looking for an electrical leak in the nav lights? Any thoughts would be appreciated. The staining is easily removed but looks ugly.
otto 31
Changed, I would say you have galvanic corrosion between the stainless and the carbon. Had a similar situation on some carbon sails with the eyes. This may help explain http://www.bssa.org.uk/topics.php?article=
