DrWatson 381
Anyone got the lowdown on Chubasco? Good boat? Dark stories? Good stories? Soft spots... Friend is interested...
Guest
Sailed across the tasman on her as return trip from '78 Solo Tans Tasman, which she won with Pat Costello. Had a great trip, boat was well behaved and fairly quick by the standards of the day. Pat is still around somewhere and I'm sure would be happy to have a chat. David Lackey has owned a sistership and is a big fan also. Last time I saw Chubby she was looking sad and unloved on a mooring at Matiatia. It would be a good thing if someone were to pick her up and give her the love she deserves.
waikiore 403
Like all Chico30 's (wood or glass) that Keith built, Good strong hulls but be sus of the decks if the teak has not already been removed....
DrWatson 381
Thanks for the feedback, I'll recommend a thorough survey. It's the teak-over-ply deck that'd worry me at the moment, I think, esp. given David's news she's been sitting around apparently unloved for a while. A rotten deck is not terminal, but it be a frightening expense for someone who's not got time or handliness readily available. I see a Townson 36 (Juanita?) looking like a remarkably good deal at the moment, also.
