splashprincess 17
The inaugural Wellington to New Plymouth race starts December 27 at 1100 and we have 5 boats at this stage running away from family to brave the trip up the west coast to the Naki. Gucci, Waianawa, Prime Mover, Wedgetail and The Guarantee will all compete for line honours and a race record. Last time anyone was brave enough to race up to New Plymouth was in the Mana - New Plymouth race about 30 years ago. I will be posting race updates and news here on a regular basis, and for anyone in the Naki over that time we will be around the yacht club or boat ramp area so pop over and say hi. Can't wait to see racing keelboats arriving in my old home waters!

splashprincess 17
Sorry for tardiness - race cancelled due to conditions in Cook Strait. We tried for 12 hours to get a race away but the weather gods did not want to play nice. Maybe better luck next year? Some of us have done the road trip anyway so have come for a visit anyway. Big thanks to those who put the work in to try and get the race organised and away.
