  3. I can vouch for Mr vorpal. Did a brilliant job altering a main for me on budget and within the time frame I wanted. It was nice inside loft job though. Great sailmaker
  4. Why does tracker seem to have Android devices
  5. Similar but no. Carl syman of paper tiger, provincial cowboy fame. Although he has been seen on the pointy end of a ross 780 ........from time to time
  6. Yeah there will be three of us sailing the boat through the series. Phil and Carl are doing the first race, phil and smithy doing the second and we will see about the third. So all three out for the training sail.
  7. Busy weekend. 2 handed training sail on Marshall Law on Saturday, then a Weiti Gulf Harbour race on Sunday on Rafferty Rules. Funny conditions, no sign of the forecast 30-40 knots so I went with the square top main and a self tacker jib which was perfect for the first three legs. Late for the start but it worked out ok with us getting the favoured end of the line. got rolled on the gennaker reach by unitec ( e7. who was managing to plane with a nice new huge genny. Caught up when they played silly luffing games with Shapeshifter (R830). Managed to get Shapeshifter on the next upwind while
  8. So last weekend we had our first training run for The SSANZ triple series. Had a great sail which started in about 10 knots of breeze with the kite up, then a wee reach under masthead gennaker followed by a short beat which turned into a tight reach up to north head. then the breeze got up inside north head and we ended up beating up the harbour in 30 odd knots with a ref in. Apart from the hydraulics for the vang and outhaul shitting themselves and phil managing to park the boat into the finger of the marina it was a great morning. She is a really well sorted boat.
  9. Bargain harmonic right here How could you say no, such beautiful boats!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1048452155.htm
  10. hi brendan Our two got a wee bit seasick on the way to the barrier a couple of years ago. they both just went below and had a snooze. I don't think its anything to be worried about they'll grow out of it and both of ours seem to be fine now. It was fairly willing the day you came back from the barrier. I'm not surprised your wee girl got a bit crook. Don't worry she'll still be a sailer (not much choice eh) .
  11. looks like you're stil in the northern hemisphere bp
  12. BP must be in the northern hemisphere.
  13. I'd be REALLY interested in the race history if anyone could enlighten me. I have no idea of how she will go against other Jav's but I was blown away with her performance. I've sailed R class's, 12 foot skiffs and recently an international 14 and she felt every bit as quick and responsive as those. I always thought the single dangle Jav was a soft option compared to the double danglers. How wrong was I !!
  14. Resurrected a free javelin and took her for a blast with Mr Harken on staurday. I got her from dambo a couple of weeks ago after he realized she had become a garden ornament due to lack of spare time, enthusiasm etc etc. Rather her becoming a permanent garden ornament he very kindly gave her to me Coat of paint and Young mr Harken and I were off for a blast to see how good the boat was and much we could break before sorting the deck gear and cotpit. The great news is that the boat is awesome!! Goes like a rocket and is easy to sail fast ( much easier to keep upright than
  15. crikey we won't miss you. looks fantastic. yay for another ross boat being resurrected.
  16. apart from watching etnz kick or's ass this morning I have just had the worlds most CRAP weekend. So after losing mast in last simrad, followed by successful protest and redress yay! I manage to contract the worst case of tonsillitis on wednesday. feel like crap, feverous and weak as a kitten, get on antibiotics by Thursday morning. hopefully will come right for the weekend. nup. friday sweating like a rapist and weak as a kitten. its ok because my wife is a great sailor and she can do the simrad with my crew. right until I back the outboard into a f$%king picnic table at GH and break the ou
  17. bad taste- darwins theory in action methinks. 1 step short of a darwin award. if he was obeying the rules and doing 5 knots within 100m of land then he'd be fine!! from personal experience there are plenty of lights in that area.
  18. Seen today at the entrance of gulf harbour. captions please.
