I am missing something here , there was a back stay broken. Then there is a reef , so the back stay broke could the boat not carry on sailing , could it not be fixed ,jerry fixed folded in half ,lashed the New a rope , to the fitting , then a reef turns up did they drift onto the reef with no power , sail , no motor , if the back stay broke It would had at the ends , if it broke at the top , so turn out around , if it broke at the. Bottom fold it in half , lash it and tie it to the fitting as a temp fix , maby ,

That's if they are end on , I have bolted two together so I have 1200 x1200 on a frame and that forms another dry area at the back of the cockpit- 79 replies

apart from the propulsion thing there is living power , we find cruising Leave Marina 100/. Percent , 300 amps two 80 watt solar panels , day one ok , day three power settles at 80 percent and stays there , run engine each day helps , usually after a week the power in storage is average is 80 percent , radio , fridge , lights at night , vhf , and occasionally at night the DVD video , this power has to be put on top Of an electric motor and its battery's so it gets complicated. Many battery's. House ,engine , it goes on- 79 replies

Battery will get better as time goes buy , but for now they are still developing with lipo etc , with every plus electric motor there is two minuses. Fire , explosion , all thoes are highly related to these type of battery's for marine electric motors , solar panels take up to much room , boats get left sitting to long , battery's don't like salt water , connector don't like salt water , electric motors internals do t like salt water , and these lips cell battery from my usage get very hot , when one gives up it usually explodes Masses amounts of smoke , then fire , the amount of smoke woul- 79 replies

Wasn't ted bacon on ngataki as crew I and ended up being let off on the island , must dig the book out again. I managed to get a signed copy from the little old book shop on waiheke in 1999 at the top of the town ,now it's a mall or sorts , and many many other old sailing books as well the guy who owned the shop used to save them for me weakly while I was working there
