  1. Huge progress. Good on you Ash. What's the plan with Windows and hatches?
  2. If they're not making a loss, and paying their way, and yotties from all over love the place, why are the Squadron closing it? If it kicks off again, I will join!
  3. Yeeharr! I hope that Rumour has got some truth in it!
  4. Brilliant to see you getting so much help Ash. You are learning heaps doing what you're doing, and it's the only way to go. Do it yourself. Good onya, and keep at it. The Marshall will always be needing a scrub, so I will keep you in work as long as I am racing! . Keep the posts going too. Very interesting and good value.. I am learning along with you!!
  5. Nice work Ash. Keep it up! Loving the posts!
  6. Fully agree with On Tilt. Good onya Ash. Big job, but you're tearing into it and have some good guidance on the side. The thing is YOU ARE DOING IT. Loads of us just sit around and talk about it! Big ups to you.
  7. Wow! Big respect Ash. That is a huge undertaking!! While you have it stripped back this far, do yourself a favour and run electrical ducting the length of the boat, and up out of the bilges. A pet hate with Kiwi boats is that very few do this and running electrics is so much harder than it should be.. I wish the Marshall had ducting!! Every electrical installation is a major... Helps to be double jointed too.. Anyway that will be the least of you problems.. Good luck mate!!
  8. Yeah I read the article in Boating magazine and was pretty shocked that she couldn't get him back on board. Not having a go at her skills, just genuinely surprised that once she got a rope around him she couldn't winch him over the stern.. It's quite a sobering lesson alright!. The other recent example of how quickly a crew member can get exhausted was Shane Kirkman when he went over in that Fiji race. He said himself that he was only minutes from going under the last time and he is young and fit and very experienced...
  9. That's a huuuuuge amount of work. Big ups to you!
  10. Bloody hell Wheels. It's the Starship Enterprise!!

    liveaboard

Bayswater Marina in Auckland has perminant live aboards.. Plenty of them in fact!
  12. Completed the offshore survival course at RAYC with #1 Son. Both passed. Phew!. Just got to wash the chlorine out of the wet weather gear now.
  13. The dark antifoul and stripe looks great mate. Sounds like you are well on the way...
  14. Very nice Grinna! She looks a million bucks. Is the engine work all complete? No problems? Nice to see the progress.
  15. But your recent track record in that department..................................???????????? Nah. They're all the same. You could get a 100% clean bill of health and lose the rig the next day I reckon.. Ask Mr. Roosevelt..
  16. Bluudy hell! Wasnt she on the market for about $250 - 300k a few years back? I seem to recall when i was shopping for a reasonble 40+fter she was on the market at that price. I think back then Urban Cowboy? (Ross 40 in Tga) was on the market for $150k , but in need of major work. I had a look at her when the Marshall deal looked like it would fall through. They wanted 198K then. Very tidy (and fast) boat with not much to do that I could see...
  17. He's back ladies and Gentlemen!! And it's TOO much KM...
  18. You were funny up till that post...
  19. Quite a grandmother Grinna!!
  20. I reckon I could have got my current boat cheaper, and I have spent far more on it than I ever thought I would, and there is still heaps to go. And this was a boat in good condition! Would I change the decision? No absolutely not. I have had some great races in it, some cool cruising, had a steep learning curve, scared myself a few times, and met some great people who have crewed on it. I took ERSATZ's quote pretty much word for word and applied it at the time... No regrets Another 10 months and the finance will be paid off, then there's just the mortgage!! If I hadn't bought the Marshal
