ricka 3
Hi All….Could someone explain to me why it’s so hard to buy a 'field attachable' NMEA 2000 cable plug. I want to cut a moulded one off a NMEA 2000 cable to fit through a wiring tube and then refit a plug. Lusty and Blundel and Advance Trident don’t sell them and advise against it but don’t say why. Probably 'cos they don’t sell them but there may be a technical reason? I can buy them from the US unless someone knowledgeable says it’s a bad idea.

erice 732
what about cutting the cable 30-60cm back from the plug threading it through the pipe then stripping, soldering, heat-shrinking each colour wire back to itself?
eruptn 95
Garmin have one, check the local suppliers; https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/shop-by-accessories/nmea-2000/nmea-2000-field-installable-connectors/prod11644.html I can't find the reference now, but remember reading something about the plugs when installing the network on my boat, maybe something special about the shield ?
