Island Time 1,239
If its deck stepped, in a tabernacle (Pin through the mast base), it can be done for free, with no external help. When I had my Noelex 30, I used a old laser mast bottom section, bolted though a pivot point on the front of the mast step. The other end goes fwd to the forestay. Top side connects to forestay, bottom side of the fwd section to bow roller, with a rope, fed aft to capstan winch or manual winch. Method. Take off the boom etc. Ease rigging tension - esp if spreaders are straight. Remove fwd lowers or babystay use a halyard as temp forestay. Remove forestay, fasten to fwd top of the strut (Laser bottom section in my case). Fasten rope to fwd bottom of strut, lead under bow roller from fwd, back to winch on deck - with clutch or cleat. Ease temp forestay (halyard) until the load is on the strut and winch, then remove it. Ease the line from the winch giving a controlled lowering of the rig to the deck. If its a bit windy, especially from abeam, an assistant to help guide the rig is good. When down the rig is on deck, and the strut sticking up. With this method I could rig and unrig the boat by myself in about 40 mins, with little possibility of dropping the rig.
