Emirates Team New Zealand need your help to ensure the America's Cup sailed in Auckland in 2021.

The first part of this fight is to support the Panuku Development's resource consent application.

That's starting to sound like underarm bowling.

 

Using an international sailing website to influence local government decision making.

That website says nothing about the warehouses Team NZ want built on the waterfront, infact that link doesn't even show the plan they are imploring all international readers make a submission on.

Not to mention the slight oversight of international sailing media manipulation of how to spend local ratepayer money.

I filled in the form supporting it. Personally I think it is the better choice. The tank farm will be remediated at some stage soon, but before long it will be simply covered in more apartments and low rise office blocks of middling quality like the rest of Wynyard. The wharf extensions will in time provide more public open space and the ability to hold regattas (or other international events) of the size of the AC on a temporary basis. The VHH guys didn’t care about views of the harbour when they put the very privatised apartment blocks up.....
