ex Elly 258
A Mixed Two Person Keelboat Offshore will feature at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after World Sailing's Council voted in favour of it replacing the Mixed One Person Dinghy. https://www.sail-world.com/news/211845/Mixed-Offshore-Event-added-to-Paris-2024 Finn Class Hits Out At World Sailing Over Late Olympic Mixed Dinghy Switch https://afloat.ie/sail/isaf/item/40989-finn-world-sailing-mixed-dinghy-olympics
MarkMT 68
Interesting. Seems a little surprising given recent trends. Wonder how NZL's Jan Dawson voted. Also interesting that the Laser is not locked down as the one-person dinghy. Perhaps a bit long in the tooth?
waikiore 477
I have never understood the long blind attachment that they had to the Finn, Scandinavian lobbying ? Though NZ has had a good measure of success with them.

Guest Saturday Night Special
When they chose the 470 The great Paul Elvestrom lobbied hard for the Javelin we all know which way that went .so I am surprised it took this long for the Finn to be dumped but it had to go
ex Elly 258
This time the lobbying was from top British circumnavigators Mike Golding and Dee Cafari. https://www.sailingscuttlebutt.com/2018/11/11/considering-offshore-olympic-event/
smithy09 50
Stupid decision. Offshore racing and Olympic sailing are completely different animals. The Finn is a great class for Gorillas. No other class caters for the 90kg plus single handed sailor. It is well developed, world wide with plenty of boats to choose from. It demands smarts, athleticism and strength. Very sad to see it go.
