Great thanks for that. Lithium certainly seems like the future, but for this replacement cycle it looks like I'll stick with AGM. Maybe next time around it will make more sense to switch. The weight/capacity issue is the main appeal for me.

I notice in the listing for Sterling lithium batteries at Burnsco https://www.burnsco.co.nz/sterling-amps-lifepo4-lithium-batteries-12v the following comment - Does AUS/NZS 3004.2:2004 apply to installations that are not connected to shore power? Just standalone DC on board.

Anyone have any brand recommendations or experience with Lithium Ion batteries for marine use? Looking at about 100Ah.
  7. Sad to hear. My first cat was an 18" Tiger Shark. Fantastic boat.
  8. Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations of someone I can get to do a few cosmetic hull repairs on my small composite racing catamaran. Background... A very, very long time ago (2011 actually!), I asked for some advice here about shipping a small racing catamaran from the US to NZL. Fast forward to the near present and I've eventually ended up moving back to NZ permanently - long story, complicated by COVID, but I
  9. I owned Crikey Dick some years ago.
  10. Thanks, owner located from what I understand.
  11. From the Russell Community Facebook group, in case anyone here has a contact... --- Alert- Is anyone able to contact the owner of “Drop Dead Fred”. Or get out to her as the main has come unrolled off the boom and streaming out over the stern. Cheers. Matt Cooper ---

    Next Cup

If American Magic wins... “We are going to put the boat back into the water,” he says. “It will be somewhere between 80 and 100 feet in length. It will be a displacement monohull that is good for traditional match racing. You need to be able to see the boats from a distance, and the boats need to be majestic.” https://www.sailingworld.com/story/racing/next-chapter-for-the-americas-cup/
  13. Wow. That was pure idle speculation on my part. What a shame.
