Flaming lips 0
Looking at installing wind gear on my Ross 830, would like to go wireless for easy install and looking at the B and G WS320 kit with no display. Would this be compatible to the existing Garmin echoMAP 75sv chart plotter via a NMEA 2000 backbone?
Adrianp 91
Can't help on the combability but we fitted the WS320 last summer and have done 5000nm with it since. Its awesome and just works! On our B&G displays it shows the battery charge and signal strength, which may or may not display on the Garmin. We never look at those (as it just works) so shouldn't be a big issue. Island Time 1,113
Provided your garmin has N2K it will work fine, but as above, with no battery display. $1000 + GST for the masthead unit and sender, 13 in stock ex navico Sydney right now, delivery about a week. mattm 95
You think he’ll be able to calibrate it IT? Speed shouldn’t need it, but direction almost always needs a tweak. I’d be skeptical that he’d be able to calibrate the B&G wind via a Garmin display.
Island Time 1,113
It'll work, but the B&G specific stuff wont be available, like calibration, battery display etc. Best to have a Triton display as well so as to get it perfect... However, I have done another one on a Garmin mfd, and as the wind data is just N2k, it allowed offsets for direction at the MFD. I'd not guarantee they are all like that!
