eruptn 103
Hi team, I have a recollection of a yacht being dismasted in a Round White Island race, probably in the late 1990’s. Does anyone remember this ? Keen to understand the circumstances, especially if the volcano was involved. Thanks
The big T 41
Think it was Sneaky Frog, an Elliot owned by Kermit (then a sailmaker).

B00B00 320
I thought Sneaky frog was on the last leg of the Round North Island race when it sank?
markm 30
If I recall, two different incidents, Bay of Plenty really did not like Sneaky Frog. Recollection which is very dodgy was that she also got seriously dosed in ash going round the island, add water as tends to happen and mud throughout the interior was the result. Why any boat ever did another White Island race is beyond me.
Hamish 4
The mast came down after ash fall, on a three legs race, with Kermit and I think Sneaky on board. Boat was lost in an RNI with Smiley and Nick Willets on board.
