Clipper 346
This morning at aboot 5:20am I was ripping some peel ply off some glassing from last night, mostly in the dark, and noticed that when I ripped it off, there was a brief glow. Was kinda freaky. Anyone know what causes that?

wheels 543
Keen lad. I imagine Static, but a glow from what? The peelply, the boundary between both, or the resin surface?
Guest
Some sudden release of gas held between the peel ply and laminate maybe?? Or maybe micro resin dust reflecting something??
wheels 543
Or the fact you were doing this at 5.20am. You were probably still dreaming.
chic014 0
I got a hell of a static shock when demoulding a panel off an aluminium tool yesterday. Worse than anything I've felt from a car or even a van der graaff machine in physics at school.
oliver 0
That's called Triboluminescence, and can generate radiation all the way up to x-rays if you peel tape in a vacuum. Cool trick.

Clipper 346
Thanks Oliver. I was on my way to airport, was just checking on the way out to the car that the resin had gone off.
