Ran over one of the genoa sheets, wrapped around the prop, and broke off the skeg where it meets the hull... I guess metal just doesnt last these days... bugger.

Anyone know where to go for a new one?

Ooops.

It should be an off the shelf item. What is the boat?? You could contact Henleys and see if they do that kind of thing. But a Marine engineer shopuld know where to get one. You will most likely have a bent shaft as well. You need to also check the engine mounts. These can be damaged.

Shes a Spencer32. Fortunately the motor stopped pretty well straight away after it happened. We are now on the hard at hmb so Peter there will the first port of call. It has a 1 inch shaft, with cutlass bearing on the P bracket.

have a chat with Mike, certain he has a load of patterns for these and they'd be a bunch cheeper than off the shelf, but alas for the shaft, it is or wont be bent more twisted/ corkscrewed and no matter what you do it's never likely to run true again so ditch it early and never do it again!! (you will though ......we all have )

Yes if you broke the bracket, the shaft will be bent. That's the only way the Bracket can be broken. And chances are, the Prop, or at least a blade on it may have been bent too. You will need to get it checked. You only need the pitch to change on on blade and the vibration will be horrific. Better and cheaper to find out if it is OK while the boat is out of the water, rather than put it in and then find out. If by some chance it is a folding prop, then they can be very vulnerable.
