in the light: old #1 or new #2?

your thoughts, please:

 

we've got a decent #2, but the #1 has seen better days. in almost all conditions, we use the #2 for shape.

 

looking at saturday's forecast for

 

(and, yes, i know: get a good #1!)

When its that light you probably need the extra horsepower a #1 is gonna give you.

If its that bagged out why not take it to a sailmaker and have the luff hollowed which tends to flatten the sail and give you a little more time before coughing up for a new one.

Given you want to use it Saturday you could possibly rig some sort of cunningham arrangement and with it and the combined halyard tension give the sail a little more oomph than its got right now. Another big one would be sheet size- in 5 knots you could try moving to light air sheets which will help the sail fly and not be weighed down at the clew by heavy sheets.
