CC2012 Final aerial pics

The best I can achieve with some tweaks to Friday's shots. Usual rules, if you want a high-res copy right click on pic -> properties -> and take note of IMG filename e.g. IMG_5118ps.jpg. Then email filename(s) to me at rob.webb.nz@gmail.com. And please ensure your mailbox can receive 10Mb+ file sizes!

If you can't see your boat here send me an email with boatname + hull colour + sail number and I'll let you know if I can find anything in some of my remaining pics. But as I said before, flying conditions were far from ideal on Friday and I couldn't capture as many of the fleet as I hoped.

Cheers

Looks like you two boys had some fun up there.

It was a bit extreme, bearing in mind that the whole plane empty weighs 320kg. Bad enough keeping it in the air but then they threw rain squalls at us as well which required us to hide in a clear spot over eastern beach for a while. Ardmore had 27 gusting 36 when we entered airspace (the plane is rated for 25) but thankfully it was a little lighter when we touched down and stopped in what seemed a plane length.

Is that the voice of a man with brown shorts, or a huge grin on his face? Sounds rather invigorating  .

That sure is a light plane - even with fuel and you two on board it would not weigh much more than 600kg.

SD - the scariest part would be landing her wouldn't it?

Not scary but then again I spent most of my time squinting threw the viewfinder trying to achieve focus lock on some little white bouncy things that were weaving around below us. Meanwhile SD was 100% focused on flying the plane and he probably had more time to appreciate the marginal conditions. I knew it wasn't easy when we had to abandon photography sebveral times to turn tail and run away from the squalls. However bad it felt to the guys down at sea level, it was even windier and gustier 1,000ft higher up!
