Crocket 12
These are long lead-time projects. So now Artemis Racing has two sets rudder elevators: one that complies with the Safety Recommendations in their entirety, and one that complies with the rules as they were before the Safety Recommendations were issued. Artemis Racing cannot comply with the third case, which ETNZ and LR are now trying to force on the competition. The fact is that if ETNZ and LR get what they want, Artemis Racing will be excluded from competition. Have I missed something? Wouldn't the elevators that complies with the rules before the safety recommendations be the ones that ETNZ & LR are fighting for?

Guest
Also, what makes you think Cayard is not just blatantly lying? Pretty much everyone has an angle they are pursuing. No one has a vested interest in telling it like it actually is, and even if they did it is complicated by the fact that not everyone agrees on, or wants to be seen to be agreeing at the very least, on how it is. Everything I have read in the past two weeks is spin. From everyone. If you're not spinning what you are saying you are not experienced enough to be in this game. It's how it is played. What is true doesn't matter... it's what people can be made to believe...
Guest
Spinning indeed. The only things not spinning are the boats themselves which appear to me to have the close handling characteristics of a demented praying-mantis. But its worth remembering that this competition has become TV revenue driven. Here's the measurement formula for the modern America's Cup [(C x d2 x P x La) - MD] + BS = $$$ where C = Controversy d2 = death & destruction P = prangs La = Legal argument MD = meaningful discussion BS = Bull sh*t &/or Bad sportsmanship (according to taste)
Guest
From a newbies perspective it appears the AC is just doing what it always has done. Winged keels, multible measurement certs, twin keels, bowsprits, ... Nobody is clean in this farce. Kiwis, Americans, Italians, french, ... All spin, cheating and bugger all sailing. The AC is why sailing is not taken seriously and deemed a joke by everybody outside of the sailing community. This rubs off to the whole sport and negates all the good work done in other areas. The AC should not be discussed in a yachting forum. It should be discussed in a marketing / spin / bullshit forum. What a Sham.
