Young Entertainer 59
Looking a buying a boat that has a tuff luff foil but no furler, wondering if I need to replace the whole foil if I want a furler or if there are any models designed to be used with the existing foil? Marshy 30
Nope its a new foul. The tuffluff foil is only plastic and not strong at all in torsion (Twist) so no good for furling. If your lucky the Furler will match the Boltrope size of the foil meaning the jibs dont need a visit to the sail maker. Take a look at the Harken furlers (I know you had one already so you probably were anyhow!) or the Furlex. Best by a long shot on a boat that size...
Guest
go with furlex, works excellent as a furler and you can drop the drum and use it just as a foil
waikiore 405
Yep exceedingly hard to beat Furlex quality in NZ and there backup is second to none.
