Very good points, thanks TB. Absolutely hate the mast slap at 2am.
-
Was told about having them out under the spreaders, so seems the way to go. One question though.... Is the halyard part yoked near the top from two lines, down to one, or are there two separate lines to the cleat on the mast?

Good stuff. Eager to get on to it once the lockdown is over. May have more questions then but thanks to all who responded.

Good stuff, thanks for the comments. Yup, I'm closing in on 60ish, and feeling the need to make life easier on a 32 footer. Who has the set up KM? Local chandler or self sourced?

Thinking about installing for next summer. Id like people's opinion on them. It'll be great for single or short handed sailing (which is likely to be the main use), but is there a down side? I hear a lot about the hoist and drop of the main, and sometimes getting a bit of a tangle. Any thing else? Has anyone installed and thought it not worth the effort, hassle?

Fyi, the valves are pretty easy to remove and service. I just turned the sealing rubber disc over and bingo, good for years more.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorted now

I'm after a valve key to use for a day, tops. Anyone in the Auckland area who can help me out? Please.

Anyone interested can email me at Nd7388@Police.govt.nz for NoR entry form etc. Commodore, Police Sailing Association

Just reading this topic out of pure interest (yeah, right) and read of mixing white vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda and something else..., cantbrecall off top of my head. Mix it up (No idea on ratios) in a milk container, and spread around bilges, and scrub. Anyone got any ideas on ratio or other usefulmideas? Ps: broken fuel line identified and fixed.

Excellent. Thanks. Understood, I think it's a few mm off the stop, so will be my first adjustment, test

I've just had to replace the throttle cable. Single control with the press button to disengage gearbox type. I've got a 20hp buhk and don't know how to set the idle rpm. Might be a bit high, so would this be the cause of the difficulty in getting it into and out of gear. Reverse is especially difficult.

Good on you. Im struggling to keep a late 70s boat in shape, but it is worthwhile. Mind you, i do like the upgrades

Any suggestions? Do people antifoul them, prop speed, or something else.

-

She's pretty hard finding the perfect place. Err, you get back around the time I'm off the Thailand however I'm sure we'll be in the same country at some stage. Looking forward to some warmth.
