  1. Just finished "re-purposing" the composites workshop back to it's original man-cave condition (yes there is a difference - one is where you wanna be while the other is where you tell the wa where you need to go). If you look past the laminating table (thanks again John B ) and sheet product box I really don't think you'd know - she has a different opinion! (if you look the other way I can kinda see her point - no need for pics though!) Footnote - strategically positioned bottles of proper beer for KM's benefit!
  2. That's how Euphoria was originally and it chaffed everywhere - still have nightmares about discovering that issue! If you're going hitch like that then you really need grommets in the tramp I think. Grommets don't work on Ferrari tramps unless they're through a solid pocket which is welded to the base fabric. However it looks like KM's R&D department is about to answer this ongoing question happy to enter the T into the program!
  3. Yeh - they have stretched over the years. Was going to get Bill to shorten them in Feb. but just didn't get round to it - sorry! Pin the front one home as tight as you can crosswise, then pin to the main beam - also as tight as you can, then tension to the forebeam - the weave crimp might give a bit more crosswise tension. You won't be able to do too much more with the aft tramps without a trim. I use long nose pliers masked with sparkie tape to get them as tight as possible.

Nice work - bruises on bruises?
  5. Yeh - I just managed to break one of the tear drop windows while cleaning it and what I can't understand is why no one is answering my call into 0800-plasticmajicman at 2245 hrs on Friday the first of January! Just very poor service I have to say! I just hope the bugger can be bothered gettin in his Ferrari and driving back to Auckland from Bach Omaha to open the door on Monday morning! (F**k - anyone recommend a good acrylic window manufacturer?)
  6. I also tied each hole individually and am not surprised you've chaffed through so quickly. I went with poly for the lacing because I prefer that they are a little more "springy" than the hmwpe and uhmwpe ropes. I used small sail batten ends 'glued on' with silicone so they could be removed and whipped them in place but had limited success with that idea. Really need a longer and better fitting sleeve - I'm going to turn a few out of ally on the lathe - perhaps even with a thread though I think the batten might be a bit small for that. The other thing I've done is to run a grub screw int
  7. F**k really! We've descended to this nonsense here as well? Trying to set blame for that conflict is in fact the source of the conflict itself. You argue this atrocity last year - they'll argue that atrocity the decade before to which you argue another atrocity the century before that. I have no time and no desire to see this argument debated on a yachting website. Please desist or f##k off.
  8. After resigning myself to the fact that the boat won't be in for a wee while yet on account of me mate busting his ankle with one coat to go, I'm having another tidy up of the aft deck "planks". Doing it at me same mate's factory - what a difference a proper shop with proper tools, clear space, flat floor, good lighting, proper mechanical ventilation and just generally better all round working conditions, makes! Almost didn't want to come home to the screaming kids and annoying dogs this morning!
  9. It had - then it fell back into the realm of professionalism - which then transcended to state funded which then transcended to . . . But hey - don't worry it only took us 1500 years to progress from professional state funded sport back to ametuar sport again!
  10. Bugger - the things you do with your boat to keep the wife happy! On Saturday, Geoff Phillips, 77, had been trying to help out his wife Aylin, who was in a dinghy a little closer to shore, but got stuck in the shallower water. "It was just an idiot moment," he said. "She's a write-off, we've got nothing." http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11566788
  11. Real shame she's got to this - was a lovely well set up boat
  12. Good to hear you got her going - Yeh that jib is really too small with full main.
  13. assuming you used a biodegradable toothbrush - I'd just leave it to live out life as intended. You do use biodegradable toothbrushes on board don't you . . . ?
  14. As run down as she is, she still looks pretty. Love those graphics! I've gone for a repeat of Te original graphics on Ballistic (name slightly bigger to comply with big brother) - hope they do the same with Yen.
  15. Nice! Willy is that a 3rd or 4th reef at the top - looks seriously deep!
  16. just looked up the website - looks like the crank is detacheable so that's good otherwise its a trip hazard. Will have another look tonight. 5' of hose won't be enough for idea one but certainly do-able for idea 2.
  17. IT - a few q's for you on the airhead Is the crank handle removeable? I think I could orient it facing forward with the crank handle on the inboard side if it was removeable. What dia and min bend radius is the vent pipe. I think I could get it to work if this came out of the unit on the opposite side of the crank but it would be pretty tight to the hull. And finally - the vent. Loooks like most vent straight on deck forward of the mast. Noticeable odour? I'm trying to decide where would be the best place for one - don't want to poke it out of the deck forward and so might run the pipe
  18. We're intending to use the portaloo this season as well as Jon's solution. The wife and I can hang on for a good while, the youngest is still in nappies which just leaves the 6yo to manage! The current head doesn't have a holding tank and I feel that adding one as well as a macerator is on balance gonna take up too much space. Need to do a tour of other T's to see how others have solved it. Like the idea of an airhead but it seems like it might protrude too far into the space - tricky spaces up forward!
  19. Yup but I reckon it's very quickly going to become an insurance requisite that you have your gas install inspected and certified every two years.
  20. raises an interesting point for me. Am I required to use a gas fitter to re-install the hose from the bottle locker through the bulkhead and to the stove.
  21. Your dreaming right! That part of the "Wah-kah-too" is the Stuff of movies! Cheers!
  22. So Aaron - does that mean the mooring is free? Kept meaning to look across this weekend but got busy with the base coat.
