  1. Frankly - I'm fed up with the crap that comes out of TNZ. The herald report that "Team New Zealand chairman Keith Turner admits the prospect of axed skipper Dean Barker joining another America's Cup syndicate is worrying for the Kiwi team, and blames the media for the dispute reaching this point." - to blame the media is deplorable. They never intended for Barker to be Sail Director and he never intended to be anything less so it was only ever going to reach this point - pathetic. and; "Team NZ have denied the original source that led to the media reports Barker was to be axed as sk
  2. while we're on the subject of tramps - lashings etc. - what's the view on individual lashings vs a continuous lashing line down each side (or indeed around the whole perimeter). Currently my tramps are individually lashed.
  3. When ever I'm motoring I always feel like I should chock the motore so that it is negatively raked on the transom and chuck a heap of weight on the bow. From what you're saying Tim - it seems like that would be a bit pointless?
  4. I'm interested in this as well. I get about 7-8kts with my 8hp merc long shaft with the stock prop. boat is only 1000kg

  7. BooBoo - awesome mate - this is just perfect timing for us now that the boat is lying close at hand. Clipper, How long before you move Voom out of w/haven - need to come have a nosey as I work to setting up the boat for the kids. Looks like there's been a few innovations since I last sailed on her!
  8. Up the Tamaki on Jon Bilger's old mooring. 10mins paddle board from the house. I can just see the roof of the house in this pic (very happy dad after a nice morning on the harbour)
  9. (and she now floats again - was going to throw the sails up and take a pic for Clipper's benefit but there was just nothing out there that it wasn't worth the effort. Nice cruise up the estuary though.)
  10. ha ha - sh*t stirrer Ken. Actually its not currently floating - but will be by 0830 hrs tomorrow morning. Looking at the forcast - should be sailing by 0900 hrs provided I can bolt the rest of the bits on tonight after I finish lashing the aft tramps, reconnect the tiller bar, install the motor, remeber the dinghy, sheets, sails etce and any other somewhat important sh*t! Paxfish - I own a very old GBE called Euphoria. Owned it for years but never really found the time to get her going properly. Still sail about (occaisonally as alluded to by Clipper) with the original main! Just movin
  11. Ah - that reminds me of a club project I've forgotten all about. Coastal records from the very origin!
  12. they should add the Silveraider to that image!

  14. ah - careful about throwing stones - I think there's three words there Tom! I happen to like Takapuna - its just that its full of 'spunas' as we used to call them last century!

No - when racing I do what I'm asked by any skipper regardless of whether I agree or not.

wouldn't you have a safety strop fitted in line somewhere - in the same vein as a swimsaver on a windsurfer

Was on Viva last night - you smoked under us like we weren't even there just after devonport. At after the finish I watched you bury the leeward ama in a little - pop out - jump on the foil and just take off! Seriously jealous mate!

yup - I saw that too - its a shame I didn't have my camera with me - I saw your leeward hull pretty much foiled out of the water - pretty bloody awesome Tim.

tim - I wondered if it would be possible to 'bolt' these tips on by sinking threaded inserts into the ends. That way you'd be able to remove during a little swim so that you can fully extract the foil. I'm guessing you've already thought of this and discarded it for some reason that's gone way over my humble head.
