  3. Hi there, Does any one have a self stearing pendolum wind vane they'd like to sell? It is for a cav 32 Cheers
  4. Thank you Paul, very valuable info. Cheers
  5. I would like to bring the hull to gel coat in order to asses hull state. Also remove unwanted old paint. I would be interested in knowing your thoughts about antifouling removal. I found a post by battgirl removing antifouling with a mix of cornflour and caustic soda. Also the application of epoxy before the new antifouling. What is the reason behind the epoxy? Is it to cold now for epoxy? Should i be quick in applying the antifouling before the epoxy fully cures? Thank you in advance for your advice! Cheers
  6. Thank you for the quick answer, really apreciated. Cheers
  7. Hi guys. I just bought a couple of cleveco 22 winches. I d need to change a pawl and a spring. Any idea where i could fìnd them? Cheers
  8. Hey guys, I just thought about the auto tillel being connected to the trim tab. The set up doues not allow for the auto tiller to be mounted square to the boat axis. Does this matter at all? Or as i press the auto botton it then does what it needs to do to steer the course? I immagine i should trick the auto tiller by setting it as if it was installed say starbord rather then port. This way it would deal with trim tab???? Does it make sense??? Thank you for any suggestion Cheers
  9. Thank you for your replyes guys! The idea was to try preserve the tp32 by not making it work as hard. Also save battery. Finally to be able to use in any conditions. I wander if in that position is going to get wetter then ideal...??? I guess only time will tell. Cheers
  10. Hi there, I have an auxiliary rudder trim tab wind vane set up on a cav 32 I am wandering if anyone has direct experience on getting the auto tiller unit attached to the auxiliary rudder trim tab. I have a tp32 . The aim would be to be able to use the tiller pilot in more demanding condition as it would normally be feasible if attached to the main tiller. this would also mean the auxiliary rudder would always be mounted at the back. ( at the moment it is sitting in the shed...) thank you in advance for your thoughts. cheers
  11. Ni ce job abel seaman! I was wandering if you sailed the dingy at all. I saw from the plans some mast and sail. Cheers
  12. Wow...million $ question.....I used to have a raymarine before and by memory the pin looked the same. Could be...the option could be mounting it the other side of the tiller. Cheers!
  13. The SIMRAD TP 22 is declared to be suitable for boats up to 5000kg. Can be interfaced with a chart plotter. It came with the boat I just bought and given I have the TP 32 from my previous boat, that is what I will keep. The unit has been tested under sail and engine and it did steer the course as it is meant to do. Retail price is $1300 so I guess it is a bargain. It comes with the connection and water tight plug but not with the attachment which can be bough separately.
  14. Hey guys, thank you for the offer but the luff on a cav 32 is 10.8. Cheers
  15. Thanks Erice and Lateral. I ll be on the boat on the boat on Friday and check the measurements. I have a furler so i am not sure the bronze hanks would work. Cheers
  16. Hi there! Thank you for you message. I have an old n 1 genoa that fits my cav 32. Ideally i am after a newer one that would fit my boat. Would your one fit? I am obviously happy to pay for the right sail!! Cheers
  17. Thank you for that BP. As you know I have a cav 32 too so invaluable info!!!! I will try this as soon as I get a chance. So far I heaved to with the jib on....obviously not in heavy conditions, just too take a break and have some food... or fishing...hahha cheers!
  18. Thabk you for the book title Fish! And yes please BP, havy weather tactics! Cheers
  19. Hi guys, thank you for all the great input you all gave me! appreciate it very much. Now, to summarize my take on it; I am very grateful for the boat I have and I am inclined on to doing with what I have got for the longest time possible. I will get to know the boat and all she has to offer. The plan is to crunch miles though so before or later I will have to invest, I think, into a new genoa N 1. It also appears to be the cheapest and safest option in terms of performance outcome. I also have a Reacher and a spinnaker which are in fairly good condition so somehow some point of sails
  20. Hi there, new to this forum and very eager to get into it. I own a cavalier 32 and although I love it, like everyone who loves their boat, I am trying to make it better. She is a little sluggish in the light winds right? My genoa N1 does not have much more life in it so, a part from changing that one ($3500 which I don't want to buy right now) I was thinking to extend the boom and put a bigger main sail. Being of a much smaller area It should not cost as much right? Now, the real question. Would it make it reasonably better or is it a pointless exercise? I would appreciate
