I'm about to tackle this.
Awlgrip rep said that 545 wont stick to the #3. Wants me to to Interprotect first, then 545, then Awlgrip.
I've no experience with interprotect but i'm not sure I want to learn to sand that on all the details of my cockpit etc...
4 Quotes from 4 reputable marine painters, none of them suggested using interprotect. Most of them said they would use 545.
The Awlgrip rep says it wont stick, and they are just re-doing a yacht whos 545 didn't stick to old #3.
Who do I believe?
How bad is it to sand the interprotect?

Hi @gisywaterboy, how did you get on with this repainting of your cockpit?
Did you go with the YRA600 in the end?

Anybody have any recommendations for a mobile painter?
Auckland Area (Panmure)

@Winter, you still on the hard there?
Yeap, slow going, but progress is progress!
It's a great yard.

I've just binned one, have ordered a DST810 for replacement, hopefully these last longer..
I too am pretty disappointed but there isn't a lot of choice in the market for similar transducers.

Need to borrow one of these asap to get an accurate measurement for my rudder bearing. Any ideas?

Yes Wheels, the crimping tools for the ferrules selling for around $350. I like the way they seal off the wire ends and support the terminal wiring at the stress point area
The bootlace one?
thats about $112. They had some one sale for around $80 the other day. $350 is way, way too much

Removing toe tails does not look like a fun job
Sprayed the elite or roll & tip?

Beautiful @Sabre.
Can you share some details on this? What paint, what non-skid, what prep did you do?
Did you remove the tracks?

I like these ferrule terminal end type of crimps, I haven't seen them in NZ though
They sell those at most electrical wholesalers , Ideal Electrical / JA Russels etc..

Yes, it is definitely a Henley. It is the same as mine (fitted on a Chico 30 and driven by a Yanmar 2GM20).
Thanks Sail Rock, good to know what sorta boat its good for.
I'm not going to fit it to my boat.. , would you like a spare? make me an offer!

Thanks KM & Fogg. I'll go with the nickel plated and the lashing

What is the right crimp for the job? Copper or Nickel Plated Copper?
Also, why are lifelines tensioned with the weird bit of lashing, rather than something like a turnbuckle / rigging screw?
I assumed it was so you could cut it free? But the swages ends won't pass through a stanchion anyway so what does it gain you?

I did this recently. Used the topping lift and an extra halyard to support the boom right above the pickup point.
I just used the mainsheet to do the lifting.
Lifted it, lowered it partially on the cockpit floor and slid the mainsheet pickup along the boom.
Picked it up again, swung out over the lifelines and dropped it down to the finger.
I have PM'd you some photos

If you polish up the body you may find the pitch and size stamped on it. The markings tend to get obscured easily.
The 1 and 2 tell you which blade to fit to which side of the prop. The blades will be stamped too.
thanks. yes found 1 and 2 on the blades. will see what ive got to clean it up a bit

Thanks for all the replies.
Nearly went with the cut it off idea, but decided end the end to add more meat to it.
Small peice of timber bead epoxyed in place and covered in filler.
Hopefully should now have the strength it needs.
