Scotty3934 5
I have inherited a 4m Aakron inflatable that has a slow leak from a poor patch job on a puncher. The original puncher I am told was a snapper spike, however I have a feeling it’s more likely a fishing gaff puncher. The patch is average as per attached pics. Questions; - Best way to remove current patch? - Is this the best thing to do prior to re repairing? - Any other advice? Inflatable is usable as is but I’m not keen to tempt fate. Will be used for inshore fishing etc.
Vorpal Blade 89
Try a hot air gun on it, that should soften the glue enough to allow you to lift a corner and pull it off.
ex TL systems 63
I repaired a 50 mm tear in an inflatable with white bathroom silicon no patch just smoothed out the silicon at maybe 10 mm thick over the hole. It’s still good 10 years later. You could do that around the edges of your patch instead of removing it.
