Island Time 1,235
Broken antenna?? Ive seen internal issues with the antennas, if you flex it, does it feel consistent resistance along its length?
Chewing Gum 17
Wondered about that - it is slightly bent. Guess the thing to do would be to find someone with a similar radio. ICOM want $115 just to look at it. May as well buy a new one. Any recommendations for radios ?
kiwi_jon 26
Squelch level set to high? Speaker stuffed? Try using the AquaQuake function. You should hear a vibrating beep from the speaker.

Chewing Gum 17
Thanks IT Speaker fine - sound comes from speaker with squelch open and Aquaquake sound works fine. The radio is 10 years old from Safety at Sea and I bought it because of ICOM's reputation but the the thing has hardly been used and is in mint condition, with no salt damage so not too happy with ICOM any more. Island Time 1,235
Great features there. Have they got any smarts to seal with MMSI numbers if you're using it on different vessels? No, sorry. Ive not seen one that does that. Without MMSI the DSC function does not work. NZ is behind the times here, in europe and US this is a standard feature. Changing the MMSI requires a visit to a dealer. Basic features here;
