bigal.nz 59
Looking at replacing the heater on our boat. The current one is a old hi seas diesel heater. I want to replace it for two reasons, one is that HiSeas heaters uses Abestos wicks, and 2 they went out of business because too many boats burnt down (at least thats what I heard) Our heater looks like: https://images.app.goo.gl/m2pqyc44WBZGxWtk7 The modern version of this from Dickinson seems to be something like: http://dickinsonmarine.com/product_cat/diesel-heaters/ And even more compact is something like: https://www.absolutemarine.co.nz/marine-motorhome-heating/air-heaters/motor-home-heater-d2-eberspacher-heater https://www.heatspace.co/store/p653/5.0_kW_Diesel_Air_Heater_kit_-_Digital_Controller_-_Heater-X_-_LIMITED_STOCK.html https://www.heatspace.co/store/p455/5.5_kW_Diesel_Air_Heater_-_RV_Kit_-_Eberspacher_-_801.html The bottom units seem more compact and modern. Any other considerations? AG
Priscilla II 396
Make sure you are purchasing the marine kit not the rv kit. Quality exhaust silencer, through hull fitting vent ducting etc. https://www.heatspace.co/store/p574/4.0_kW_Diesel_Air_Heater_-_Marine_Kit_-_Eberspacher.html, note price varies considerably from the RV version. There are a bunch of Cheapnese knock off versions available and avoidable IMHO. Heatspace guy is very helpful to deal with re unit sizing advice etc and installation is plug and play. Heat is pretty much instant vs the Dickinson.

mattm 98
Www.dieselheaters4u.co.uk Is a guy from Turkey, he sells internationally with free fright and you don’t pay gst / duty. The website has links for Marine kits (complete with all the bits, add extra hose or outlets if needed) from eberspacher or webasto. He has spare parts and is very helpful by email. The prices are often near half of the nz price, for the latest model, not a knockoff. I dont often reccomend importing stuff, but at half price nz suppliers just can’t compete. I know of at least half a dozen people local to me who got them from him last winter, and several every winter before going back about 5 years, all happy customers. Priscilla II 396
$1800 no warranty and gst duty applicable. Long way to return if problematic. https://www.ebay.com/itm/EBERSPACHER-ESPAR-AIRTRONIC-D4-12V-DIESEL-BOAT-HEATER-EASY-SEL-DIGITAL-PLUG-PLAY/111987335124?hash=item1a12f71fd4:g:7RUAAOSwPCVX8B5v Heatspace provides warranty prompt service and supporting local businesses is seriously cool. Jason128 6
I can second the heat space support and service. I looked seroiusly at the clones, at half the price, but given how much is required to install, decided against it. I foolishly thought it was a couple of nights work.... as a new install it is not!
