The Coastal Classic weather thread

Brought the M1 down yesterday. 20-25 with plenty of gusts to 30 and a fair few of 35

Quite a decent ride as luckily there was a bit of West in the breeze.

Looking forward to tomorrow. We don't have a huge sail inventory so we'll use what we got to the best of our limited intelligence and see how we go

The thing with the Coastal for prod boats sans canting keels like mine is if the breeze goes too far south we're beating downwind and if it's sw we get waterlined 2 sail reaching by the longer boats.

Code 0s and specialized reaching sails necessary but we need a good wind angle for a fast trip

Sounds pretty much like what we had last night too. We were surfing a solid gust of 28kts when the tack line broke. Speaking of which.... Logan has a present for you, our fractional genni didn't like waving around in the breeze with no tack. It was a small hole honest! I will be delivering rum later on to reward same day service!

So what do the actual results compared to the predicted times tell us about the value of playing with the predictwind model beforehand. TVS was estimated just over 4hrs wasn't it? But the reality was heading towards double that time. So is there any point paying any attention to tools like this?
