CarpeDiem 431
$4.50/unit. Anyone know how big a unit is? We have used 0.4 units for 17/Jan - 15/Feb - given we've only washed the shackles on the kite sheets 4 times, it seems like a unit could be quite small... maybe 10L? khayyam 77
Surely not. Watercare charges are ~$2/kL (plus wastewater). So at a guess I'd say 1 unit = 1 kL.
harrytom 648
1000lts is a unit 1 unit = 1 cubic metre of water (or 1000 litres of water, around 100 buckets). waikiore 400
They tried it 3 years back and found that it cost more than they recovered (the billing)
harrytom 648
Be interesting to see how they would charge each individual vessel as most share a common tap. Gin palace pumps 500lts onboard ,yacht 40lts Some official going to attach a meter every time a berth holder uses water??
CarpeDiem 431
Opened the piller tonight and had a look at the meter. A unit is a cubic-meter, so 1000L - there's no way we have used 400L washing sheet shackles The single hose on our piller, which the neighbours own and I periodically use, was attached to our tap, so probably they used 396L out of our tap (I don't care in the slightest about the $1.53...) So that would explain my 400L usage - good to know how a unit is measured - I must of missed the notification that they started charging.
waikiore 400
We all have individual taps after the water metering went in four years ago
