Marlsounds 0
Hi all, I’m hoping to build a jetty with a gangway to a floating pontoon, held in place by mooring blocks, during this year. Has anyone had much experience with this process? Specifically, how is the Marlborough District Council on these structures? And do I need to engage an engineer directly or does my builder do that for me? Any advice and feedback gratefully accepted. Thanks.
aardvarkash10 1,065
this took 3 seconds to google... https://www.marlborough.govt.nz/repository/libraries/id:1w1mps0ir17q9sgxanf9/hierarchy/Documents/Services/BC/BC Appn Checklist Master/BAC0002_3_PIM_BC_Appln_Checklist_Jetties_with_Boatsheds.pdf I'm picking you will need resource consent and that probably means an environmental impact report, engineering report and detailed information about the intended use of the jetty. Given the number of these structures in the Sounds, I also suspect there will be several local firms who specialise in them and have all that info at their fingertips. These guys for example: https://piertwo.co.nz/
Jono G 43
Contact Sam or Lisa at Tory Channel Contractors TCC . They are pretty booked up so get your name in early and by the time you get your consents you will be nearing the top of the queue.
mattm 106
Yeah, just call TCC and do as they say. They do heaps, and just get stuff done.

Marlsounds 0
Thanks for the quick feedback and recommendations. Talked to the jetty builders at Pier Two today. And had a chat with the Marlborough District Council.
Jason128 6
Find a recently Built jetty and look up on the smart map database the council has. You can see everything that was required, resource consent documentation, building consent docs etc.
